Students are innovative, ethical, problem-solvers able to lead and manage through communication, collaboration, and reflection.

I.a. Students are able to evaluate critically, reflect, and problem-solve individually as well as collaboratively.

Throughout my program, I learned a lot about library collections, the foundation of libraries, historically and presently. This particular assignment delved into the nitty-gritty of libraries’ collection development policies. However, there was more to be learned from this assignment. This collaborative effort required the ability to critically evaluate information and to reflect upon it. It also required that as a team, we be able to problem-solve individually as well as collectively.

I.b. Students demonstrate effective communication skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital to the work of librarians. Librarians must be able to effectively communicate with very diverse groups of people, including peers, researchers, students, and the general public.

For this assignment, we were to reflect on, essentially, the value of libraries in a short, personal speech.
